CheckSig brings banks into the regulated crypto world: the Italian fintech will showcase how traditional financial institutions can tap into the rapidly growing crypto market.
Milan, October 28, 2025 – CheckSig, an Italian fintech company specializing in crypto solutions for financial intermediaries, will participate in Salone dei Pagamenti 2025 to present Clear, its Crypto-as-a-Service platform. Clear enables banks to offer their clients regulated custody, trading, and tax services for Bitcoin and other crypto-assets - fully compliant with the EU MiCAR regulation.
MiCAR: a European turning point for banks
With the introduction of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR), crypto-assets have officially become regulated financial instruments, marking a historic step toward their integration into the traditional financial system. To date, 70 operators have been authorized under MiCAR across Europe, including 15 banks such as BBVA, Commerzbank, CACEIS (Crédit Agricole), and Open Bank (Santander) - evidence of the growing institutional interest in Bitcoin and digital assets. Germany and the Netherlands currently lead the way, hosting more than half of all licensed operators in Europe.
The Italian market: high potential, waiting for take-off
In Italy, the market is still at an early stage: no MiCAR licenses have yet been granted, although several institutions have already submitted applications to Consob and the Bank of Italy. Despite this, over 2.5 million Italians already own crypto-assets (source: OAM), and according to projections from the Digital Gold Institute, the national market could grow 70-fold over the next decade, highlighting its enormous potential.
These trends are also reflected in CheckSig’s Crypto Banking Survey, which reveals that 24% of Italians have already invested in crypto, while another 29% plan to do so in the future. Moreover, 68% of respondents said they would like their own bank to offer crypto-related services.
Clear: bridging traditional and digital finance
